FAQs
Vegetable Wax
We use high quality coconut wax that are:
- Natural vegetable wax
- No traces of GMOs
- Non-toxic and biodegradable
- Animal cruelty free
- Suitable for vegans
Why do we use coconut wax?
Coconut wax burns evenly and helps prevent the common “tunnelling” effect, while delivering a strong and consistent fragrance release. It tends to be more costly because it is produced in smaller quantities through labour-intensive processes, and is valued for its higher quality and superior performance compared to soy or paraffin wax. Recognised as a premium, sustainable, and renewable material, coconut wax burns more slowly, offers enhanced scent diffusion, and provides a smooth, creamy finish.
At L’atelier Himalaya, we are committed to offering our customers exceptional quality, which is why we have chosen coconut wax as our wax of choice - ensuring a cleaner burn, refined performance, and a truly elevated candle experience.

Candle Safety Guidelines*
Keep the wax pool clean. Always ensure the melted wax is free from matches, wick trimmings, and any other debris.
Use a long lighter. For safer lighting, we recommend using a long gas lighter rather than matches.
Place candles away from anything flammable. Keep candles at a safe distance from items that could catch fire—such as decorations, curtains, or paper. Remember that flame height can increase as the candle burns.
Protect children and pets. Burning candles can easily attract curious hands and paws. Always place candles out of their reach to prevent accidents.
Do not move a burning candle. Avoid touching or moving a candle while it’s lit or while the wax is still liquid. The container and wax can become extremely hot and may cause burns.
Monitor the flame. If the flame grows too high or begins to produce visible soot, extinguish the candle immediately. Allow it to cool, trim the wick, and check for drafts before relighting.
Extinguishing Your Candle Safely*
Gently extinguish the flame—never blow it out. Blowing can cause hot wax or burning wick fragments to scatter. Instead, use a candle snuffer or carefully dip the wick into the melted wax with a metal tool (such as the handle of a spoon). Be sure to straighten the wick afterward.
Do not use water or any liquid to put out the flame. Adding water can cause hot wax to splatter and may even crack the glass container.
Ensure the candle is fully extinguished before leaving the room. Always double-check that the flame is completely out and that the wick is no longer glowing.
Air out the room after use. Candles consume oxygen and release moisture as they burn. Once the candle is extinguished, briefly ventilate the space to refresh the air. Avoid opening windows while the candle is still burning to prevent drafts.

First Aid - Recommended Measures and Actions
Inhalation
If vapours or dust are breathed in, move the individual to fresh air immediately and allow them to rest comfortably. Should breathing problems, coughing, or irritation develop, seek medical advice.
Skin Contact
If skin irritation appears, wash the affected area carefully with soap and water. Remove any clothing that has been contaminated. If symptoms continue, consult a medical professional.
Eye Contact
Rinse the eyes gently with clean water for a minimum of 10 minutes. If wearing contact lenses, remove them if possible. If redness or discomfort persists, obtain medical attention.
Ingestion
Do not attempt to induce vomiting. Rinse the mouth thoroughly with water and spit it out. Seek urgent medical assistance.
Potential Symptoms
Possible reactions may include redness, itching, skin irritation, allergic responses, or eye discomfort.
Possible symptoms: skin irritation, allergic reaction, redness, itching, eye irritation.
Handling and Storage
- Burn candles only in well-ventilated spaces. Avoid excessive heat and prevent splashing of hot wax. Always follow the usage instructions provided.
- Store candles in a cool, dry place protected from direct sunlight and heat. Soy wax may be affected by temperature fluctuations.
- Keep products away from open flames, sparks, or other ignition sources.
FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES and ACTION
In case of fire involving these products, respond promptly and ensure appropriate safety precautions are taken.
Suitable Extinguishing Methods
- Smother small flames with a fire blanket or similar covering to deprive the fire of oxygen.
- Apply foam extinguishers (including alcohol-resistant types where applicable) to create a barrier between the fuel and air.
- Use a dry chemical powder extinguisher to disrupt the combustion process.
- Carbon dioxide (CO₂) extinguishers are suitable, particularly in enclosed spaces or where residue should be avoided.
- A fine water spray may be used to cool heated surfaces and limit heat spread.
Methods Not Recommended
Avoid directing a strong stream of water onto burning liquids or molten wax, as this may cause the fire to spread or lead to splashing.
Additional Safety Guidance
Approach the fire from upwind and ensure a clear escape route is always behind you.
- Be aware that melted wax can create slippery surfaces or produce hot droplets.
- Smoke may contain harmful or irritating substances; use suitable respiratory protection or contact emergency services if necessary.
- If the fire grows rapidly or becomes uncontrollable, evacuate the area immediately and contact the fire brigade. Do not attempt to extinguish large fires yourself.
Accidental Release Measures
- Wear appropriate protective gear such as gloves, eye protection, and protective clothing. Ensure good ventilation and remove all ignition sources.
- Collect spilled material mechanically (e.g., sweeping or vacuuming).
- Prevent material from entering drains, waterways, or soil.
- Dispose of waste in accordance with applicable local regulations.
